Pat is an educational consultant, facilitator, and trainer working out of British Columbia. His clients include post secondary education institutions, government agencies, and health care organizations. His background spans instructor development, industry, trades training, and social work. Pat's background also includes being an instructor at Red Deer College in Alberta, Canada, and at Saskatchewan Technical Institute, Moose Jaw, Saskathewan, Canada. Pat has been certified by Company of Experts.net as an Appreciative Inquiry Facilitator.
Pat played a leading role in the development of a system of colleges in the Middle East and is regularly consulted by educators and government agencies regarding international projects. He has been involved in national assessment systems, strategic planning, community assessment, conference organization, program assessment and curriculum development. Pat is most excited when working with instructors on the improvement of educational practice.
Pat has a master of education degree from the University of Calgary in Educational Administration (Organization and Staff Development), a graduate diploma in Adult Education (Industrial and Vocational) from the University of Alberta, and a bachelor of arts in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Calgary. His trade background (electrical) has been utilized in several trade projects, the most recent being the incorporation of apprenticeship programs within secondary schools. Pat is certified as a Director in the Instructional Skills Workshops (ISW), having trained trainers and facilitators in both Canada and internationally. He also is certified as a Facilitator in Gender and Diversity/Creation of Inclusion in the Classroom, Cooperative Learning, and Great Teaching Seminars (GTS). Pat actively networks with educators in many institutions and is a member of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).
Pat facilitates workshops and courses on a variety of topics, and is quite enthusiastic about the 'rehabilitation of assessment' within the learning process. He particularly enjoys working on the challenges associated with the development and assessment of 'soft skills.'
